PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY OF COMPONENT CROPS IN LEGUME-UPLAND RICE INTERCROPPING SYSTEM AS INFLUENCED BY ZINC RATE
نویسندگان
چکیده
The application of zinc to some selected legumes (cowpea - Vignaunguiculata L. Walp., soybean – Glycine max Merr. or mungbean Vigna radiate Wilczek) intercropped with upland rice (OryzaesativaL.) may improve the presence residual nitrogen in cropping system andprotein in-take farmers faced protein and mineral deficiency, especially their daily food menu. Information on effect is inadequate. study investigated rate effectsonshoot status, grain yieldand productivity crop species sole intercrop rice. There were three separate trials laid out a randomised complete block design replications. Zinc (0, 2, 4 6 Kg•ha-1) applied trials. Intercropping exhibited high degree complementarity. On average, 2 Kg Zn•ha-1 gave highest total land equivalent ratio (LER 1.89) soybean/rice, followed by 1.64) mungbean/rice compared other rates. The cowpea/rice highesttotal gross monetary net returns (NR) but lowest benefit–cost (BCR) at same Zn rate.In intercrop, highest NR (₦263692:77•ha−1)and BCR(0.90) Zn•ha-1. Zn•ha-1in intercropping legumespecies enhanced financial systems.

Relay intercropping systems with rice cultivars (WAB450-24-3-2-P18-HB (V4) and WAB56-50), the competitive Cajanus cajan and the weakly competitive Stylosanthes hamata were evaluated in the tropical savanna zone in Côte d’Ivoire. The INTERCOM model for competition served for data analysis and understanding of the system based on phenological, physiological and morphological characteristics of th...

To assess the suitability of Leguminous species in rice intercropping systems, physiological and morphological characteristics of Crotalaria juncea, Cajanus cajan, Mucuna pruriens var. cochinchinensis, Calopogonium mucunoides, Aeschynomene histrix and Stylosanthes hamata were determined in monoculture. C. cajan and S. hamata were selected and intercropped with two upland rice cultivars (WAB56-5...
متن کاملExpression of Zinc Transporter Genes in Rice as Influenced by Zinc-Solubilizing Enterobacter cloacae Strain ZSB14
Zinc (Zn) deficiency in major food crops has been considered as an important factor affecting the crop production and subsequently the human health. Rice (Oryza sativa) is sensitive to Zn deficiency and thereby causes malnutrition to most of the rice-eating Asian populations. Application of zinc solubilizing bacteria (ZSB) could be a sustainable agronomic approach to increase the soil available...
